What to Bring

Alpine Hut Deka is 3020m above sea level. You can warm up and refuel at our hut, but be sure to bring enough extra clothing and kit for all your outdoor adventures. Warm summer mornings can quickly turn stormy with lightning, hail or snow. Be sure to have good hiking shoes or boots as it’s a steep, rocky path to get here.

If you’re planning to travel on the glacier or climb a peak, we strongly recommend you use a qualified guide. Contact us if you’d like help organising this.

For those of you who are staying overnight with us, here’s some information on what we provide at Deka, and some suggestions of what you can bring to make your stay more comfortable.

Travel Light

Equipment hire

You can hire mountaineering, ice climbing, camping and glacier trekking equipment and clothing at the hut. We have tents, sleeping bags, gas stoves, ice axes, crampons, GPS devices, boots, helmets, harnesses, jackets, ropes and glacier rescue kits available for hire.

Bedding

We provide blankets and pillows to all overnight guests. All guests need to use their own sleeping bag or sleeping liner when they stay over. You can rent these from reception if you don’t bring your own.
